Spring Break 2010 - Lunches for Everyone!
The members of LTlov, the Lake Travis Labor of Love, shared an amazing experience of extreme generosity with many of you in our Lake Travis community over the past Spring Break. While many residents expect to put on a few extra pounds on vacation, there are children in our community who expect to miss a few meals. When schools close, so do the cafeterias. With cafeterias closed, some students in the Lake Travis Independent School District just might spend their days off hungry.
Thanks to many wonderful individulas and businesses here in Lake Travis - this Spring Break, this community became an exception! Despite being an "11th hour" project decision, response to the first ever "Spring Break Lunch Program" was overwhelming! Thank you Lake Hills Church for the use of you Mobile Loaves and Fishes truck to deliver 75-100 sack lunches each day of the break. Thank you American Bank and Keller Williams for being drop sites for sack lunch supplies. Thank you to the teachers and students who packed lunches as class service projects. Thank you LTISD for the donations of milk and fresh fruit. Thank you to each and every one who made donations, purchased supplies, packed lunches, and staffed the truck on delivery rounds. And finally, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the woman who birthed, organized, and managed this awesome project. Thank you Janet Bailey, for sharing your vision with LTlov. It was an honor and privilege to partner with your compassion, and it is our sincere hope to continue this project into the summer months.
Sincerely,
