The women of LTlov would like to thank our wonderful Lake Travis community for coming together to produce another highly successful event hosted by the Lake Travis Labor of Love. Tapas for Tennies, held at Mad About Shoes on October 21st, was the place to be despite the evening’s storms. As guests arrived, they added their donations to the ever-growing stacks that accumulated by the end of the evening, to a treasure trove of 75 pairs of brand new tennis shoes! Vino100, Mulligans, Starbucks, Rocco’s Grill and Café CastroNova offered their culinary blessings with huge platters of tempting tapas and delicious desserts. Cheers to good friends, good food and the good feeling that comes from making a difference.
The tennis shoes will be distributed to LTISD students whose financial situations are keeping them in “tennies” that are outgrown, worn-down and poorly fitted. LTlov will also use the very generous $500.00 in cash donations received at the event to fill in with special sizes and to purchase additional shoes required to meet the need. Any shoes remaining will be donated to the Lake Travis Thrift Shop. Life is good for some, but not for all … thank you for helping us bridge the gap!
